Character Name: Godric
Series: True Blood
Age: Over 2000 years old
From When?:Originally, just before he met the sun. He’s been on the Barge before and is coming back after a couple of years.

Warden Justification: Godric is no stranger to anger and chaos and destruction. He spent the first thousand years of his life living up to what humans thought monsters were supposed to act like. He killed indiscriminately and shed needless blood. But it soon grew too much for him and he changed his ways, believing that vampires could evolve to become better. He can take that experience and bring it to an inmate. More than that, he wants to help people. He’s looking for redemption of his own in the form of saving souls.

Item: One of the leather bands he wears. The runes on the inside will give him information.

Abilities/Powers: Godric will come with all the vampire powers and weaknesses available in canon. Super strength, super speed. He is old enough to have great control over himself and his urges, often going long stretches without feeding and suffering no consequences. He can glamour and control human thoughts, but he absolutely won’t. He’s also a cunning linguist, and knows Gaulish (though it was extinct by the 6th century), English, French, Swedish and German fluently in canon. He likely understands many more languages, but is less fluent in those that are not Romantic or Germanic. He can also fly, but chooses not to most of the time.

Wardening Strategies and Philosophies:

Godric is quite used to the Barge at this point. He understands the way that floods and breaches and ports work. He understands that relationships are built and fall on these sorts of warps in reality and he knows that the Admiral can be trusted with a deal and to follow through on requests, but not much else. He was a sort of leader type on the Barge the last time, and he’s not looking to do that again.

Godric is very much a reluctant leader. He has always been thrust into positions of power and control and has never wanted it. He wants to live his life and enjoy a sort of retirement. Too much power and control is damaging. He doesn’t like to get involved in Barge politics unless they’re tipping the scales in a dangerous direction. He wishes that wardens would work together more seamlessly, but he knows that it’s often like trying to talk to a brick wall.

Additionally, Godric carries a core of self loathing and guilt that rivals many. He blames himself for thousands of years of oppression and cruelty and injustice that he served. He still, though the pain as faded, feels guilt for every slight he's made against humanity in the past. It's something he always has to atone for and no amount of Admiral deals will ever make it right.

He views the role of warden as a partnership. He doesn’t consider himself above anyone, though there have been plenty of people who have called him sanctimonious in his lifetime. But he is simply vocal on what he thinks is right and true, and he believes that there is a way for everyone to work and live together.

As a warden, Godric is generally patient to a fault. He has lived for thousands of years and isn't in a hurry. He is a pacifist and won't resort to violence unless absolutely necessary. There are very few scenarios where he will lash out to hurt another person, even if it means that he would be hurt.

He will do well with most types of inmates, including those who are cruel or violent, though he rejects the concept of cruelty outright. He’s been on the giving and receiving end of so many horrors that it exhausts him to have to continue to fight against it. He would especially do well with those who have done what they need to in the name of survival, or who have abuses in their past, as that's what he endured. He doesn't mind stubborn or tough cases, either.

However. Godric likely wouldn't do well with the overly manipulative, only because he doesn't have a head for it. It would be frustrating for him. A little manipulation here and there,, like a bit of a dusting, is just fine! But doing it constantly wouldn't be super fun.

Most of all, Godric believes in love. Love is all is not simply a string of words to him but a philosophy to live by. Love everyone. Love everything. Try love before hate. He’s lived too long to hate many people and, even now, that list is short. He loves quickly and wants to share that with as many people as he possibly can.

Deal: Right now, it’s his humanity, but that will likely change.

History: History here!

Sample Network Entry:

Each time a flood happens, we see change. Each time a breach happens, we see change. The ports we travel to, the places we see, there’s always a lesson inside. What do we learn from the things that happen to us? Are they purely there to force us to learn? Perhaps. I’m not the Admiral. But I can say that life is unexpected. And if you cannot find a reason for it, some small semblance of the why, then what’s the point?

Sample RP: Godric’s always been drawn to the greenhouse. Not to work in it, not to tend the soil, but to simply exist there in the greenery. He had learned to weed once upon a time and so, if he sees any, he will pull them, giving the other places spaces to breathe and stretch and grow.

He wanders through to the art gazebo, wishing for a lyre of some sort though the absurdity of picking that instrument up after two thousand years strikes him as funny. He trails fingertips along the piano keys, wondering about lessons he might have to take.

But he’s never been the sort to create music, only indulge in listening.

He ends up on the deck, staring out at the endless abyss and remembering what it was like to stand here with friends. He puts his hands on the railing and his heart, dead and cold and quiet as it is, aches and twists with loss. He’ll never see certain people again, but their ghosts and shadows still walk this place.
